  • Engage in meaningful work as part of the Government Relations and Strategic Partnerships team, focusing on significant international programs in Kenya, Malawi, and South Africa.

  • Proven international public affairs or government relations experience in Africa.
  • Expertise in global health advocacy and political advisory in complex settings, with a strong track record in the African region and/or government.

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships. We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

The role entails working as part of a broader Government Relations and Strategic Partnerships (GRSP) team within the Policy & Partnerships division, reporting to the Head of Global Government Relations. This role will work closely with teams internally who manage our Major International Programmes which are large portfolios in Kenya, Malawi and South Africa.

Job requirements include experience of public affairs or government relations work internationally in the Africa Region, experience of working in global health advocacy programmes as well as experience of preparing political advice for team leaders and senior officials in complex environments, with track record in Africa region and/or government.

Benefits include a flexible working environment, in which people can perform at their best. At Wellcome we have a hybrid way of working which is 3 days in our Euston Road offices (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) with the remaining 2 days working either remotely or in the office.
