As Finance Officer, you will support the Head of Finance in the day-to-day running of the projects. You will ensure governance across all financial operations. This is a hands-on role that touches upon all aspects of charitable finances.

What will you be doing?

As a Finance Officer your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Financial planning and monitoring.  Overseeing day-to-day financial operations such as raising and processing invoices.  Dealing with auditors, bankers, and third-party services.  Working with the Head of Finance to assist with the preparation of monthly management. accounts, budgets, year-end and other reports for the CEO and Board of Trustees.  Ensuring compliance with financial regulations.   

What are we looking for?

Recognised professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, AAT) or part qualification  Prior experience in a similar role and good knowledge of charity finances is desirable   Previous experience of working for charities and/or volunteer organisations is desirable  Articulate written, visual and verbal communication skill; fluency in English is essential.  IT/digital literate, including advanced Excel  Ability to build and develop relationships with other teams within the projects and guide colleagues on financial matters   Must be ‘hands on’, with a can-do attitude and prepared to do what it takes to get tasks delivered on time and to a high standard  Experience of preparing management accounts including analysis and commentary   Ability to produce timely, accurate and clear reports to inform monitoring, financial management and strategic development

As a team of volunteers, we are ever so grateful to everyone who agrees to contribute some of their valuable time to the project, but as a minimum, we ask for a commitment of at least 5-6 hours per week. All are voluntary positions with no remuneration offered other than what we hope will be a huge amount of job satisfaction and fun, working with like-minded people with a passion for making a real difference to future generations.
