The Weekend Day Centre for Dementia Care (WDC) are seeking a Treasurer to join our board of Trustees to lead on financial governance, provide guidance and oversight of the charity’s finances and annual budgeting processes to the board.

What will you be doing?

You will be involved in monitoring our financial situation and reporting to the board on this. This will include reviewing income and expenditure against our budget, keeping the Board and Operations Manager appraised of the funding available to them and looking at strategic management of our resources. The board of trustees meets quarterly for approx. 2hrs. You will liaise with the Finance Administrator and external accountants regarding payroll, payments from clients and managing the authorisations and signatories on our bank accounts. What are we looking for? Specific Responsibilities

Reviewing and monitoring WDC’s financial performance. Ensuring that WDC has robust and effective financial controls in place. Understanding the financial viability of projects, plans, proposals and other initiatives which may have financial, structural or reputational implications. Liaising with the Finance Administrator and external accountants with oversight over payroll, invoicing and bank accounts. Monitor current financial situation and progress against the budget. Produce management accounts at intervals throughout the year. Ensure all strategic and project plans are financially appraised and aligned to our objectives. Maintain a reserves policy that best meets our requirements. Be aware of financial best practice and introduce new ways of working where required. Experience of preparing financial information for funders

What are we looking for?

Personal Specification Preferably a finance or accountancy background; knowledge of Quickbooks would be useful.

An understanding of the challenges facing small sized UK charities in maximising income streams. A working knowledge of charity finances together with a sound knowledge of executive procedures. An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. Good, independent judgement and the courage and willingness to speak your mind. An ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Enthusiastic and confident. Share our values and be supportive, friendly and sensitive to others. Good communication and leadership skills Commercial awareness and knowledge of the charity sector Strong IT skills Analytic and evaluation skills with good judgement Knowledge of Adult Social Care and Dementia sectors is desirable.
