What will you be doing?

The Accounts Manager is a critical role within SMN, responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring robust financial management and compliance, and supporting the Board of Trustees in fulfilling their governance responsibilities. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen, excellent organisational skills, and an ability to align financial practices with the organization’s mission and governance requirements.

What are we looking for?

Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or significant equivalent experience. Proven track record in financial management and accounting, preferably in the charity or nonprofit sector. In-depth knowledge of the Charity Commission’s regulations and financial governance best practices. Proficiency in accounting software (Xero preferred). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. High integrity and commitment to SMN’s mission and values.

What difference will you make?

The SMN has recently been through some significant changes in both leadership and operations, and your skills and expertise will help us roll out our new financial structures and plans. These will include  a new set of rules and regulations, a new chart of accounts and the preparation of a budget for 2025. You will be working with our current Bookkeeper, our Account advisor and our Director responsible for financial compliance.
