Role Summary

  • Working as an intern in the ICLEI Global Events Team, you will be supporting the planning and implementation of Daring Cities 2025 and other global events.
  • The role involves managing, planning, and executing both online and local events, including event websites, email accounts, and logistics.
  • You will also be crafting content for newsletters, promotional materials and social media.

  • Must be enrolled in vocational training or a university in a relevant subject.
  • Experience with web editing, desktop publishing software, virtual platform management, and proficiency in English is needed.
  • You need to be a confident user of Microsoft Office.

The Role: As an intern in the ICLEI Global Events Team, you will be expected to support the planning and implementation of Daring Cities 2025 and the planning of the Multilevel Action & Urbanization Pavilion in the lead up to UNFCCC COP30 in addition to other tasks as they arise. You will support the preparation and execution of both in-person and virtual events, the team in charge of the program development and speaker management, the maintenance of event websites, the management of the event email accounts, the editing of videos, the tracking of logistical information for event participants, speakers, partners, and staff, the development of content for, and technical setup of, newsletters and promotional material, the development of content about ICLEI Global Events for social media channels, and other tasks and functions of the ICLEI Global Events team as needed.

Job Requirements: You must be enrolled in a vocational training or university in a relevant subject, such as Event Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Sustainability or similar. You are required to complete an internship as a part of your studies. Experience with web editing (WordPress preferably) and desktop publishing software (preferably InDesign), management of virtual platforms (Zoom, Whova…), and fluency in written and spoken English are required. Being a confident user of Microsoft Office is also necessary.

Benefits: The position is available to start on 15 May at the ICLEI World Secretariat in Bonn, Germany for a period of 6 months. Working from home practice is available, with the number of in-office versus home-office days to be determined by the team lead. The assistant will be supervised by and report to the Global Events Officer. Remuneration is 1000 Euros per month (full-time) before taxes and social insurance fees. Workings hours are 40 per week (full-time), with 2 days of leave per full month. The working language is English. International travel may be required. The contract will be based on German laws.
