What will you be doing?

The HR Trustee at True Honour Charity will support the team by assisting with HR tasks like recruitment, onboarding, compliance, payroll, and staff wellbeing. This role offers an opportunity to apply HR skills while helping survivors of honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and domestic violence. Key Responsibilities: 1. Recruitment and Onboarding:

Advertise vacancies, screen applications, and conduct interviews. Conduct DBS checks and guide new hires through onboarding and safeguarding training.

2. HR Administration & Compliance:

Maintain accurate HR records for staff and volunteers. Ensure compliance with employment laws and safeguarding regulations. Update HR policies and ensure staff complete mandatory training.

3. Payroll & Benefits:

Assist with payroll, leave records, and volunteer reimbursements. Support pension scheme administration and ensure staff eligibility.

4. Contracts and Support:

Assist with employment contracts and volunteer agreements. Support staff with HR-related queries and wellbeing activities.

5. Wellbeing & Development:

Help organise wellbeing activities and coordinate professional development opportunities like safeguarding training.

What We’re Looking For:

Interest in HR and recruitment within the charity sector. Experience with HR law is required. Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information. Strong organisational and communication skills. Compassionate and empathetic, passionate about supporting survivors of domestic violence.

What are we looking for?

Significant HR Leadership Experience: Proven senior-level experience in Human Resources, with a strong track record of strategic contribution. Expertise in UK Employment Law: Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and practical experience of UK employment law, including current legislation, case law, and best practice. Strategic Thinking: Ability to contribute to strategic discussions and provide high-level HR and legal insights that align with the charity's objectives and manage risk. Governance Understanding: A comprehensive understanding of charity governance and the legal and fiduciary responsibilities of a Trustee. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex legal and HR concepts to a non-expert audience, and to influence and advise effectively at all levels. Commitment to True Honour's Mission: A strong commitment to True Honour's mission and values, with a genuine desire to make a difference in combating honour-based abuse and forced marriage. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse Board of Trustees.
