As the Financial Controller at Seismic, you will manage all aspects of financial management, including financial statements, budgets and forecasts, and ensuring efficient accounting systems and processes. You will work closely with the leadership team providing vital financial insights.

Role Summary:

  • Prepare monthly and end of month accounts
  • Ensure accurate and timely statutory submissions
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
  • Manage payroll
  • Involve in Financial projects
  • Prepare budget and monitor performance
  • Establish controls and processes
  • Assist in annual statutory accounts preparation

Role Requirements:

  • A qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within a professional services or agency environment
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

As part of your onboarding, you will receive a guide and complete training across sustainability services. Seismic promotes flexibility in working hours. A Financial Controller who will be responsible for the financial management including the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, as well as the management of accounting systems and processes. The Financial Controller will also play a key role in the  business by partnering with the leadership team to provide financial insights and support decision-making.

The role and its responsibilities

The exact role definition will be dependent on the desire, capability and experiences of the right person. Reporting to the COO, key responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts. 

  • Prepare month end accounts and ensure all statutory submissions are made accurately and on time.  

  • Work with the leadership team to ensure that key strategic decisions  are informed by a clear understanding of the financial implications.  

  • Oversee Accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. 

  • Manage our outsourced payroll provider and ensure that payroll submissions are accurate and in line with budget.  

  • Involvement in ad hoc financial projects.  

  • Preparation of budget and monitoring actual cost and revenue performance. 

  • Establishing complete, efficient, and robust controls and processes.

  • Assist with the production of annual statutory accounts.

  • Business partnering with the leadership team in regards to any financial matters. 

  • Long term P&L forecasting.

  • Oversight of day to day finance operations, including finance personnel

  • Managing cash flow 

About you

To be successful in this role you would need the following attributes: 

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)

  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within a professional services or agency environment. 

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

You are action oriented, have a keen eye for detail and enjoy juggling multiple projects and priorities and enjoy just the right amount of time pressure to help keep productive and focused. You are a ‘people person’ with a knack for building relationships with a diverse group of people.

In your first 3 months you will:

  • Be introduced to your guide and mentor

  • Go through our onboarding programme with training across all our sustainability services

  • Join our weekly Personal Growth sessions 

Location

Ideally you will be within commuting distance of our London office You will be within commuting distance of our London office, attending the office (Spitalfields) at least twice per week.

Working hours 

We believe in flexible working hours to better suit our personal lives while being considerate of each other and our clients. We generally work office hours but trust each other to make fair decisions. We are open to considering candidates seeking a 4-day work week. Salary will be pro-rated accordingly.
