Role Summary
- Participate in the Collections Care and Access division in charge of managing, preserving and granting access to the collection in physical and digital forms across multiple sites.
- Serve as part of the Collections Management department, responsible for collections-related standards, policies and location control.
- Act as a Documentation Officer, providing first-line contact on the collections management helpdesk.
- Support the acquisition process, including reviewing acquisition files to ensure proper documentation, and assisting with collections accountability and reporting.

The Role The mission of the Collections Care and Access division is to manage, preserve, and provide access to the V&A’s collection in both physical and digital format, working across multiple V&A sites, at South Kensington, Bethnal Green and in Stratford. The division is made up of the following departments: Conservation, Technical Services, Collections Management, Photography and Digitisation and Collections Access.
The Collections Management department is responsible for the delivery of collections related standards, policies and processes, location control, management of collections information and systems, and supporting and enabling improved access to information about the collections. This fixed term post to 31 January 2026 is one of a team of three Documentation Officers who support museum staff by providing the first line of contact on the collections management helpdesk. The post holder will also support the acquisition process including reviewing acquisition files to ensure the correct documentation is in place, and assist with other collections accountability work and reporting.
