The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships. We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health. These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.

The role is in the CEO Office (Executive Office team), reporting to the Deputy Chief of Staff. You will advise and support the CEO in the delivery of Wellcome’s management committees, advisory groups and discussion forums. The CEO Office is a Wellcome department. It is a central nexus for ensuring the organisation’s resources, processes, and activities are aligned to deliver Wellcome’s mission and strategy. It has a crucial role in developing Wellcome's strategy, related programmes and initiatives, and monitoring organisational impact. Strategic Governance is one of four functions within the CEO Office and supports informed decision making and keeping up momentum on our mission and strategic priorities.

You will support Wellcome, and its leadership, in effective decision-making and governance processes. You will act as the main point of contact to the Executive Committee and other key stakeholders, to ensure effective agenda-setting, meeting planning and cross organisational communication to ensure transparency and clarity. You will also translate the CEO's vision into strategic content, working in partnership with the Committee Coordinator, other areas of Wellcome and external parties to integrate management and Board governance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in Wellcome’s mission and strategic priorities, extensive experience in governance and, and the ability to build trust and influence across a diverse range of stakeholders. We are looking for someone who has proven experience in governance and delivering key projects within tight deadlines, with an awareness of organisational mission and strategic priorities. Can take a pragmatic value driven approach to managing deliverables across various stakeholder groups and demonstrates excellent multi-tasking capability to drive forward the priorities. Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of influencing, being a critical friend to, and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Has well-developed interpersonal skills, is adaptable and able to facilitate meetings/forums to support outcomes that are the CEO’s priorities.
