🌱 About Aya Grow

Aya Grow is building the AI operating system for tropical agriculture—starting with oil palm, banana, rubber, cashew and other high-value crops with a high potential for increased sustainability.

We combine drone and satellite imagery with cutting-edge computer vision and geospatial analytics to give commercial farmers the tools to grow more with less—less labour, less chemical input, less guesswork. Our platform detects trees, pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and turns these into clear actions for field teams via dashboards, reporting, and tasking via a mobile app.

Aya Grow is currently being spun out of Aya Data, a successful AI consultancy based in Ghana and the UK. The product has been incubated for 18 months, with over $300k of R&D investment. The founding team includes a world-class CPO, ML engineer, geospatial analysts, developers and sits on an exceptional foundation of data/ML pipelines and technical IP.

We’ve got excellent traction with some of the largest global players in tropical agriculture, we're now ready to launch as our own company, and we’re looking for a founder-level CTO to build, lead, and scale the next phase.

You’ll own technical strategy, delivery, infrastructure, and hiring, and be responsible for leading the team to product stability, scale, and revenue.

🛠 Your Responsibilities

• Lead the development of Aya Grow’s core platform (backend, frontend, and data/ML pipelines)
• Architect and implement scalable, secure cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP preferred)
• Manage and mentor a small Ghana-based dev team; build a global engineering culture
• Work closely with the Chief Product Officer to translate customer needs into working features
• Build the dev roadmap and prioritise stability, speed, and simplicity
• Work with CEO and leadership to attract investors and communicate the vision
• Travel to Ghana for team-building, field testing, and user feedback

🎯 You Might Be a Fit If You...

• Have 5-7+ years of full-stack or backend development experience, ideally in a startup
• Have led or co-led the build of a complex SaaS or AI-powered product
• Have experience with geospatial or ML-integrated platforms (bonus)
• Love coaching and growing junior engineers into confident contributors
• Are fluent in AWS, Python, Postgres, and modern CI/CD pipelines
• Thrive in ambiguity and want to get your hands dirty
• Care about the planet, food security, and building products that matter
