What will you be doing?
The role would involve visiting the homeless hostels and day centres we work with alongside our Dog Champion Volunteers and the Project Coordinator, to meet with homeless individuals and their pets and helping to create content that can be shared on our social media and website and used in our publicity information to attract funders, donors, hostels and Local Authorities. Main tasks:
Visit our Dog Champion Scheme partners once a month to build a positive relationship with the staff and homeless individuals and their pets Identify any concerns raised regarding pets such as those needing veterinary treatment or any worries regarding care or behaviour and reporting this back to Street Paws to action. Make sure all the pets are registered with Street Paws and help fill in the relevant paperwork if not.
Give out any pet supplies as need, such as coats, bedding, harnesses, leads, treats and toys We are looking for volunteers with skills in:- Photography- Creating short films- Creating social media content- Writing publicity information and press releasesConfidence around animals, especially dogs, is essential. Full training and an induction to our Dog Champion Volunteer Scheme will be provided, along with ongoing support.There are various locations across Greater Manchester and Sunderland, travel costs will be reimbursed.
Location Temporary housing providers, homeless daycentres and fundraising events in Greater Manchester or the North East. Availability 1 hour a month, Monday – Sunday – Daytime and Evenings

What difference will you make?
Provide support for the pets of those who are homeless to access veterinary care and donations so they remain health and safe. Help increase awareness of the charity and it's work in order to gain further funding to increase the support we can offer. Raising awareness of our campaigns to bring about change to housing and homeless policy on a national and local level. Encourage more homeless hostel providers to become part of the Dog Champion scheme and accept pets into their accommodation.
