About Higson
Higson is a people development consultancy. We work with purpose-driven organisations to help improve their workplace culture, leadership, and communication. We do this via workshops, coaching and consultancy projects. We are all about helping great organisations do even more great things.
Our mission is to create positive lasting impact on both people and planet. So far this year, we have donated over 600 hours of pro-bono work, delivering workshops, coaching and consultancy projects to various charities and social causes. We donate 20% of our profits to charity and use the Higson Foundation to offer pro-bono workshops and mentoring to underserved individuals. We pride ourselves on our recent B-corp reaccreditation score of 146, one of the highest among UK consultancies.
After 8 successful years of growth, we are now entering an exciting phase - scaling our impact, strengthening our strategy, and paving the way for long-term sustainable growth. To support this, we are looking for an experienced, purpose-driven Non-Executive Director to join our board in a voluntary role.
The role
As a Non-Executive Director, you’ll play a key role in guiding the organisation’s direction, providing constructive challenges and acting as a strategic sounding board.
This is a voluntary position suited to someone who is motivated by purpose and enjoys using their experience to help ambitious, values-led organisations grow sustainably.
You will not be involved in day-to-day operations - your contribution will come through perspective, insight and support to ensure we stay true to our mission while achieving our commercial goals.
Key responsibilities
- Offer independent, strategic advice to support Higson’s business development, operational priorities and sustainable growth
- Support the team in key decision-making
- Champion good governance and ethical, values-based leadership
- Use your network and experience to identify growth and collaboration opportunities
- Attend quarterly in-person board meetings
