What will you be doing?

Are you a finance professional looking to use your skills to make a lasting difference to communities across Lancashire?

This is a great opportunity to use your professional experience to influence strategic decisions, support good governance and help ensure we can continue delivering vital services to communities across the county.

As a trustee, you'll have an essential role in contributing towards the future direction of Community Futures and making a real difference to rural communities, local organisations, and county-wide priorities to promote equitable access to services.

You will not be working alone. You will join our dedicated Finance Committee, working closely with our experienced Honorary Treasurer. This is a brilliant opportunity to contribute to high-level financial strategy – scrutinising budgets, assessing grant risks, and protecting community assets – without carrying the role weight of Treasurer officer role.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Trustee to join our Board of Trustees, that has:

  • Experience in finance, accountancy, banking, procurement or senior business management
  • An understanding of financial governance and risk management
  • Experience contributing to strategic discussions and decision-making
  • The confidence to provide constructive challenge and independent judgment

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with the Treasurer to stress-test financial forecasts, early years fee models and grant applications
  • Review quarterly management accounts to ensure long-term financial resilience and robust reserves
  • Help the wider board understand financial risks and opportunities before major strategic decisions are made

What difference will you make?

The purpose of the charity, as stated in the governing document, is to: 'Promote any charitable purposes for the benefit of the communities in the County of Lancashire and elsewhere (hereinafter called the area of benefit) primarily but not exclusively by the advancement of education, research, development and training, the protection and enhancement of the environment, the preservation of good health, the relief of sickness and relief of those in necessitous circumstances.'

As a Trustee with financial expertise, you’ll help ensure the organisation remains financially resilient, well governed and able to continue supporting rural communities across Lancashire.

Your insight will help the Board make informed strategic decisions, understand financial risks and opportunities, and plan confidently for the future. Whether it’s reviewing budgets, assessing funding opportunities or supporting long-term sustainability, your contribution will help us to be clear with where we are, where we’re going and crucially, what we need to get there/how we can get there.

You’ll be joining an experienced, welcoming and supportive Board that works closely with the management team and values open discussion, collaboration and constructive challenge.
