Cartagena / Colombia / Latin America
Expires at anytime
Blue Apple Beach and its sister hotel Townhouse Cartagena are looking for bilingual candidates to join our front desk / reception teams. Our hotels are based in Cartagena, Colombia. One is on an island and the other is in the heart of the walled UNESCO Old City.
These are full time, paid roles, but we would welcome people for shorter periods of time (e.g. 3rd year abroad, gap year, internship). Minimum 6 month commitment. Shifts can be flexible.
The role is a typical front desk position, including receiving guests, managing hotel and restaurant reservations, handling email and the phone. Reception is a central hub for hotel operations, so this role tends to involve contact with other departments, such as housekeeping and maintenance. These are small hotels, and so there is close working contact with the GMs and Owners. Expect to be busy, never bored.
Absolutely essential:
- Bilingual (written and spoken) at expert level in both English and Spanish
- Excellent interpersonal skills. If you don't love being around people, this is not the job for you.
- Living or willing to live in Cartagena (Colombia)
Helpful Attributes:
- Good at juggling lots at once. A hotel reception is a notorious place for getting constantly interrupted.
- Experience in customer service or retail.
- Energetic. Cartagena is hot, heady and lively. It's a lot of fun to live here, but it requires almost endless energy.
Compensation
- We are offering a competitive local salary that will enable a comfortable quality of life in Cartagena.
- We are not offering relocation or living expenses.
You do not need a visa for your first 180 days in Colombia. For the right candidate, we may be able to support a visa application following 6 months successful trial.
One of the hotels is located on an island, which is only reachable by boat and which is not wheelchair friendly, but we will happily do whatever we can to assist with accessibility.
