🚀 What are we doing?

Luna is on a mission to revolutionise the way that female assigned teens experience, learn and talk about adolescence. We want to be the global teen app of choice when it comes to learning about our health, body and wellbeing, no more looking at Dr Google, Social Media or wondering in silence.

In 2022, adolescence is still a taboo topic, education at schools has remained largely the same for the last 50 years (if not more) yet we are living in a misinformation crisis.

This is not good enough and it is female assigned teens who are suffering the most.

1. They are 3x more likely than male assigned counterparts to struggle with their mental health;
2. They use social media for an average of 4.8 hours a day;
3. 46% of them have reported not getting enough sleep because of anxiety;
4. 80% of them hide distress from their families or teachers.

We are not ok with this, so we’re doing something about it.

📱 Our product

Luna is an app that educates, supports, and empowers female-assigned teens aged 11-16 throughout adolescence. We do this in four main ways:

1. Luna Learns: provide content (videos, blogs, articles) on a range of topics, such as periods, haircare, skincare, mental health, nutrition and more.
2. Ask Luna: a safe space to ask anonymous questions of an expert.
3. Luna Shop: teens can buy, try and review products and get rewarded for it.
4. Luna Journal: track your periods and emotions.

We are an early stage start-up, but we’re moving fast.

💃🏻 Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with an awesome background in tech who now wants to take the leap to design and help scale a mission-driven startup. You’ll be a core member of our team, helping us shape and achieve our global vision and ambitions.

You’ll need to have experience building and developing high quality iOS/Android applications. This will include experience with mobile app testing and CI/CD for mobile apps, as well as staying on top of changes for new versions of iOS and Android as they are released. Ideally, you’ll have experience in scaling apps as well - we plan to go big.

You’ll be the person taking ownership of the technical direction of the company, building out the mobile application from scratch. We have lots of great ideas on our tech roadmap for 2022, and you’ll be the person making sure these ideas (and others!) become reality.

We are not expecting you to be perfect, or not to make any mistakes (hey, we’re all learning!) but we do expect you to come with prior knowledge on how to set up and scale applications and to learn from the build process.

You’ll be part of the leading team, working with the Founders (Jas & Jo) to prioritise and build user requirements into our platform, alongside working with freelance UX/UI design to create an awesome mobile experience.

You’ll also have a Technical Advisor to bounce ideas off and call on when needed - don’t worry, we’re not dropping you in the deep end on your own!

We’re growing quickly and we want you to grow with us. Within this role, there will be lots of opportunity to take on a more strategic / leadership positions within the company (if that’s your thing). We also plan to expand the tech team after securing our next round of funding at the end of this year - you’ll be the person helping us grow and manage that team.

💻 Technical Requirements

• Full-stack software engineer, 4+ years experience
• Experienced with cross-platform mobile app development (React Native, Flutter etc.)
• Solid understanding of design and UX principles
• Comfortable with both backend and frontend
• Able to design and user test new features
• Experience building B2C products (desirable)
• Strong background in building and deploying software at scale (desirable)
• Experience in a fast-growth startup (desirable)
• Experience leading a team (desirable)
