Job Summary:
The Regional Coffee Sustainability Manager, Africa will support the design, technical support and monitoring of coffee agronomy and sustainability initiatives in Africa, contributing towards the practice’s vision of supporting three million smallholder farming families achieve sustainable living incomes.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities:
Strategy and new business development
- Support testing of new coffee agronomy and sustainability innovations
- Support partnerships with government and non-government organizations to investigate sustainable IPM and climate change strategies through appropriate research
- Support coffee new business development in partnership with Strategic Initiatives, Program Development and regional divisions
- Assist in division and country-specific strategic planning related to the coffee sector
Technical support
- Support the country teams to implement and document all stages of the Coffee Farm College and Sustainability programs to ensure targets are met
- Field visits to support technical implementation reviews
- Oversee and review Coffee Farm College training updates
- Oversee annual review of sustainability standards, associated training and audit materials
Monitoring, Learning & Evaluation
- Review the impact of the agronomy programs to ensure the targets are being met and identify opportunities to optimize yield increases
- Support development of program impact one-pagers that summarize best practice, yield and demographic surveys
- Review agronomy and sustainability project impact reports to finalize and develop action steps
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture (or relevant field) + 7 years experience, or Master's Degree + 5 years experience
- Strong command of MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Coffee sector experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Work experience in Africa
Required Languages: English Fluency required
Travel: Willingness to travel in Africa

Supervisory Responsibilities – Manage and mentor junior team members
