As Investment Analyst, you will support the fund management activities of Big Issue Invest, with exposure to the full investment lifecycle: sourcing and developing new investment opportunities; managing the current portfolio of investments; and admin and project work to support the team’s development. The new team member will have the opportunity to work with experienced social investors across a range of sectors, asset classes and company stages. Development will be by way of on-the-job training and formal training and coaching. 

This opportunity would suit candidates with a charity and/or finance background looking to move into social investment. 

The Role

In addition to supporting the core activities of BII Fund Management, key responsibilities of the role include:

Business Development

  • Conducting research on target investees;
  • Developing marketing collateral.

Fundraising

  • Developing FCA complaint marketing material to support raising of additional funds
  • Working with potential new investors to onboard and answer questions about new funds

Investment Process

  • Assistance with due diligence and credit analysis; 
  • Writing investment committee proposals for new investments, including social impact analysis;

Portfolio Management

  • Collating and tracking reporting information from investees;
  • Assisting with production of portfolio analysis and reports;

Skills & Experience

Some of the skills and experience we look for include:

  • Understanding of the issues that Big Issue Invest exists to address and the social investment market, including different investment approaches;
  • Analytical and numerate, with intermediate/advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Understanding of debt investments and SME/corporate credit analysis;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including reports and presentations;
  • Ability to engage constructively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, adapting style and approach to fit the audience;

Salary and Benefits include:

  • Salary of £25,000-£30,000 per annum dependent on experience
  • Holiday entitlement starting at 25 days per year plus bank holidays on top, increasing by 1 day for each year of employment up to 30 days
