Who we are
NearSt’s mission is to get people back into high street shops. Our retail tech platform makes shops’ in-store inventory data visible to the internet, so that anyone anywhere can see what’s in stock in their local shop.
Companies like Google and Facebook use our technology to show live in-store inventory on their platforms to millions of shoppers searching nearby, sending online shoppers into physical stores.
We have great foundations: 1000s of happy customers, a fast and easy to use deployment process, good test suites, developer-friendly infrastructure - AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, s3, serverless framework, and great tech stack - Node.js and React.
We are currently a team of six engineers and one product manager. We work closely together, often pairing or mob programming to solve problems and share knowledge. We have a healthy backlog of product tickets touching all parts of the codebase from our customer dashboards, inventory pipelines, 3rd party integrations and service monitoring & testing.
Our Tech Stack
- Node.JS
- React/Next.js
- AWS (DynamoDB, Lambda, SNS, Step Functions, S3 and others...)
- Serverless
- CircleCI and Vercel for deployment
- Epsagon, Sentry for monitoring
What we are looking for
We are looking for a seasoned engineer to join the team to add fresh perspectives to our architecture, design and software practices. We value positive, open communication. Learning is important. Our belief is that providing a happy and collaborative workplace for engineers makes the best product.
We’d love to hear from you if you
- enjoy working on full stack applications
- have an aptitude for picking up new technologies
- have opinions and are happy to debate them
- enjoy mentoring and coaching colleagues
- are confident in front-end development best practices
- have a love of breaking down complex problems into actionable chunks
- have an ability to discuss technical ideas and issues with non-developers
- care about putting users first
- care about writing high-quality code (writing tests, maintaining/following standards)
Handy but not essential if you
- have experience in end to end testing and deploying full stack applications
- have experience building software at a larger startup or scale-up
- have experience with our tech stack
This role would not be suitable for people who are looking for their first professional engineering role.
Why we think you should apply
At NearSt we are all united in our enthusiasm for what the future of retail holds (hear our CEO talk about this during our keynote at The Next Web), and believe we have an incredible opportunity to make a massive positive impact on the world.
We plan and scope all our work together, with our wonderful Product Manager guiding us in the right direction. We maintain a transparent company culture - everything from balance sheet and runway to sales pipeline gets shared with the whole team.
