October 2022 - Software Engineering Academy at Made Tech

The Made Tech Academy is a chance to work with people who care about using technology to improve people’s lives.

Our 12-week academy gives you the skills to work with clients in a fast-paced consultancy. When you complete the academy you’ll go on to work with our clients on projects that really matter.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for people who enjoy learning code and are motivated by how we can use it to help society.

Your experience

You don’t need professional experience, but we do expect you’ve started to learn about coding, enough to know you’re interested! This could be self-taught or in a bootcamp – we’ve had successful applicants from very different starting points.

Starting Salary

Between £22,500 - £25,000 depending on your location

What you will learn

You’ll learn the basics of a few coding languages in the Academy, but we have many different specialities at Made Tech. You’ll work on your ability to learn about new languages quickly, as our engineers aim to be “polyglots”, who are able to work with a wide range of technologies.

Your learning will combine tutorials, solo exercises, pair and group exercises.

What does the rest of the recruitment process involve?

1) The first step is to fill in this application form, we have some questions to understand a little bit more about who you are and how you came across the Made Tech Academy.

2) Next, we’ll invite you to do a short coding exercise in your own time (you will be given 5 days to complete it).

3) If your exercise is successful, we’ll invite you to a 15 to 20-minute audio call with one of our team. We will make sure to share any questions we’ll be asking you in advance.

4) If you pass the call, we’ll invite you along to a remote Academy open day. You’ll see how we work, do some group exercises with some of our engineers here and complete a virtual face-to-face interview.

5) If you’re successful, we’ll invite you to join our academy as a Made Tech Academy Engineer - starting on October 3rd!

Requirements

We want to hear from you, whatever your background or circumstances. Whether this is your first job, a change of direction, or a return to work after some time out.

You don’t need any work experience or education. You’ll learn everything you need to be successful at Made Tech during the academy. As well as all the benefits being an employee with us brings (listed below), you will also be given a laptop ahead of your first day to use during your time at Made Tech.
