About the role
Our Data function at Arbor centralises the data from all instances of the Arbor tool to a scalable modern data warehouse and delivers analytics and analytics-enablement to our customers including schools, local authorities and multi-academy trusts.
The Analytics Engineer role is responsible for developing the interfaces to our core data platform. This means owning and maintaining the data model, ensuring that analysts, customers and applications are able to access clean and analysis-ready data, and generally enabling the delivery of quality analytics for any downstream consumer.
Core responsibilities
Maintain interface between data platform and users/applications
Develop and document data model
Produce well written analytics code using modern design patterns and methods
Gain and maintain an understanding of education analytics principles and use cases
Participate in code reviews and pair programming with colleagues
Share knowledge with the wider team and participate in tech-talks, as well as team based learning sessions
About you
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and data obsessed Analytics Engineer, but beyond that, we’d love to see:
Extensive experience writing SQL code for analytics use cases
Experience working on a modern data platform
A positive and proactive attitude to problem solving
A team player, who is willing to help where they can and can help foster further collaboration
Familiarity with a data warehousing tool e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure Synapse
Familiarity with a data visualisation or BI tool e.g. PowerBI, Looker, Metabase
Some understanding of modern software engineering principles
