At Beam, you get to do work that really matters. We’re solving the world’s toughest social problems. And we’re growing fast 🚀

It’s not easy. Nothing worth doing ever is. But we take care of everyone who works here with everything from coaching to personal budgets and pay highly competitively.

You’ll be joining a company that’s having a huge impact on people’s lives with a culture where you can be yourself, have fun and progress rapidly.

About the role

We’re looking for a Grants Executive to join our Partnerships team and help grow donations to The Beam Foundation, Beam's charitable arm. This is high-impact work that will directly change the lives of thousands of homeless people and refugees.

While you’ll spend most of your time scouring the web for relevant grant opportunities, writing successful grant applications and reporting on the grants we’ve received, you’ll also have opportunities to dabble in analytics, communications, finance and organisational strategy depending on your development interests.

You'll be reporting to our Beam for Companies Lead, Nick. Nick has founded a successful startup and will be a fantastic person to learn from and work with.

You’ll be

  • Excited at becoming a grant writing master, pushing out high-quality applications at speed

  • A star relationship-builder, forging strong relationships with Foundations that set the stage for Beam to grow its impact

  • An integral member of the Partnerships team, leading on grant writing but also contributing to the team’s expansion strategy

  • A go-to person for submitting high-quality written work at Beam, including support on Government bid writing, business cases, Beam communications and much more

You are

  • Obsessive about detail and accuracy

  • Someone who loves to write clear and concise copy

  • A speedy learner, always adapting and improving your writing and work based on feedback

  • An analytical systems thinker who enjoys soaking up deep pools of new information

  • Able to enjoy working independently

  • Comfortable with numbers and spreadsheets

  • Excited about the possibilities of technology transforming the lives of some of society’s most disadvantaged

You’ll need

  • 1-4 years of experience in applying for (and winning!) charity grants

  • Strong and demonstrable writing skills

  • A growth mindset and hunger to learn

What great looks in one year

  • You’ll have proactively identified new funding opportunities, and owned the entire process from crafting successful grant applications to detailed, timely reporting

  • You’ll have secured over £500k for The Beam Foundation: a sum of money that will transform the lives of over 100 homeless people or refugees

  • You’ll have created and honed systems for the Partnerships team that maximise quality and efficiency as the team grows

  • You’ll have provided strategic insight to the Partnerships team, helping Beam identify new areas of growth
