We are a team of 400+ fully remote people in 45+ countries working hard to serve the global chess community. We are also growing fast, with more than 95 million players and a large base of happy premium members.
We are a tech company. A gaming company. A content company. And we do it all with passion and commitment to the game. Above all we prize our mission-driven, flat, life-celebrating, no-corporate culture, and we look forward to meeting you and learning more about what you can bring to the team.
About You
First off, you’re pretty good at chess but you don’t like to brag about it. :P You have a degree in statistics or something similar, and you have many years working in an engineering-powered data world. You enjoy ML, but realize it is not the answer to every problem. You have tinkered around on your own with chess data because you find it fascinating.
What you’ll do
Your job will be to drive the success of our chess-specific research, including Fair Play, data-driven product insights, and stats-informed features. Your primary responsibility will be managing our Fair Play research team: continuous improvement of our technology and processes, collecting data, investigating patterns in data, testing hypotheses, generating new algorithms and reports, and staying one step ahead of the cheaters. You will have access to the largest database of players and analyzed chess games in the world. You will have access to a massive game analysis network. What will you discover? You will also get to use this data to help us build products and services that chess players and fans love.
