We’re looking for our next People Engagement Director to drive forward our ambitious people plan.

Whilst this position is contractually based at Heelis, our central office in Swindon, you are likely to spend part of your week working in a hybrid way. Heelis was named after one of the Trust’s biggest benefactors Mrs William Heelis, there are approximately 500 staff based here, including the Executive team and the Director-General.
What you'll be doing
As the People Engagement Director, your leadership skills, understanding and breadth of experience in people engagement, volunteering and inclusion will help us to deliver our ambitious people plan.
As the sponsor of our ‘Everyone Welcome’ strategic priority, you will work with leaders across the Trust to help us become a more inclusive organisation which better reflects the changing communities we serve.
You will also lead the development and delivery of our volunteering plan, strengthening our volunteering foundations, whilst creating a positive, flexible and inclusive volunteer experience for both our current and future volunteers.
Working closely with your peers, you’ll lead the transformation of the Trust’s people systems, ensuring they are easy to use and provide valuable insight to enable us to deliver our strategic plans.
This is an exciting, influential, but demanding senior role. There’s lots to do and some of this work is only just getting started. We need a driven, insightful, inspirational, skilled, collaborative director to lead our high performing People Engagement team to deliver the next phase of our people plan.
Who we're looking for
You are already well established in the world of volunteering, inclusion and engagement. We’d like you to be able to demonstrate the following:
- Proven track record of leading and delivering through multi-disciplinary teams in a complex or matrix unionised environments
- Deep practical experience and knowledge of developing and delivering volunteering, participation or inclusion strategies
- Proven track record in designing and delivering innovative approaches to people engagement, volunteering, participation or inclusion
- Experience of using data and insight to drive engagement and retention
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentational skills including advocacy, networking and persuading across executive, professional and lay audiences
- Proven experience of leading, developing and motivating high performing senior teams.
The package
Salary: Circa £90,800 including private medical cover, bi-annual health screening, pension scheme with a generous matched contribution rate and other benefits.
