The role
As an Operations Manager with The Learning Adventure, you will have a vital role in your region in planning and operating our educational tours. Japan is a very popular destination for our school trips and someone with excellent local knowledge and contacts is vital to help build our presence in the region. Working remotely in Japan, you will be part of an international team which has its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. There may also be a small crossover supporting our sister company tours, The Dragon Trip.
This would be a full-time position based in Japan and working remotely with the other global offices.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage a talent pool of freelance Adventure Leaders in Japan who can lead educational tours
- Researching / recommending tour components for upcoming tours throughout Japan (including hotel, transport and activity components)
- Completing quote requests and budgets for parties interested in trips to Japan
- Handle emergencies for tours in Japan
- Support bookings team when needed
- Assist guiding tours as an Adventure Leader for The Learning Adventure
Competencies

We are looking for a new member who:
- has excellent spoken and written English and Japanese language skills
- located in Tokyo, Japan
- is a team player
- has high attention to detail
- is organised and able to balance a reactive workload together with ongoing projects
- demonstrates initiative and creativity – for finding solutions and for developing original ideas
- has strong writing skills
- has a confident, clear and approachable telephone manner
- is proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Nice to have:
- has excellent knowledge of the travel industry in Japan
- has guided educational tours
- Additional Asian languages is a plus
