What will you be doing?
About MORABE Rural Music MORABE Rural Music is a young, growing charity rooted in our founding school in Suffolk. Last year, through our Schools and Community Pathways, we reached around 600 children and community members with inclusive, high-quality music education and community music-making. From September, we’re expanding to work with two more schools and their surrounding rural communities — giving more children and families access to the arts, many for the first time. Our mission is to change lives for the better: fostering aspiration, creativity, and excellence in the rural state sector, and ensuring talent doesn’t go unnoticed because of postcode. We’re committed to equity and inclusion — giving a voice to those often unheard and shaping our programmes around local needs. Thanks to generous funders and partners, our Schools Pathway offers free instruments, subsidised 1:1 lessons, after-school string ensembles, drumming and theory clubs, and music therapy. Our Community Pathway includes a weekly Community Choir and Mini Music sessions for 0–4 year olds and their adults, in areas with no Sure Start centres, libraries, or cultural provision — creating spaces where people can connect, feel seen, and be supported. We also create regular chances for children and community members to perform — both locally and at professional venues like Snape Maltings — helping them grow in confidence, pride, and possibility. Join Us I lead the charity alongside our brilliant Community Lead, who came through our programme and now supports weekly delivery. We’re looking for someone who shares our values and wants to help make a genuine difference in rural communities. As MORABE grows, we’re in real need of hands-on support with finance — someone who’s happy to roll up their sleeves and help with everything from collating, coding, and reconciling invoices to bookkeeping, reporting, and building simple systems that will support our long-term sustainability. Familiarity with XERO is essential. This is also a personal learning opportunity: I’d love to work with someone who is willing to share their knowledge and help build my confidence in financial oversight and strategic planning. What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone compassionate, competent, collaborative and experienced to support our Founding Director in a behind-the-scenes role — helping us strengthen financial systems and grow sustainably. This hands-on role includes reconciling termly invoices, preparing clear financial reports for quarterly board meetings, and ensuring we stay compliant with charity finance requirements. (We currently use Xero and Hubdoc.) You’ll be supporting a young charity and working closely with our Founding Director, who brings vision and energy but doesn’t have a formal finance background — so we’d really value someone willing to help build our internal knowledge as we grow. We’re learning as we go and would love to work with someone practical, patient, and values-led. If you enjoy using your skills to make a meaningful difference, we’d love to hear from you.
What difference will you make?
By joining MORABE, you’ll play a vital role in transforming the lives of children and families in rural communities. Your work will help more young people — many facing significant barriers — access high-quality music education and experience the joy, confidence, and connection that music brings. Your expertise in finance and reporting will help us stay accountable to funders, build trust with partners, and plan for a sustainable future. You’ll support the systems behind everything from free lessons and therapy to professional performance opportunities — enabling us to grow with integrity. This is a chance to be part of something special: a grassroots charity rooted in community, driven by creativity, and committed to lasting change. You won’t just be keeping the books — you’ll help build a future where rural children are seen, heard, and celebrated.
