The Hackney School of Food is a thriving community based cookery school and gardens. We were formed from a partnership between the Leap Federation and the CIC Chefs in Schools. Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables people to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life. Instilling a love of cooking will also open a door to one of the great expressions of human creativity, and gives access to a universal language that unites us all. We are committed to researching, refining and developing what works most effectively in cookery education – drawing from, and sharing with, others here in Hackney, nationwide, and abroad. We share that knowledge freely: proving that it is possible to do better, raising aspirations, and giving others the tools needed to succeed. We do all of this because we believe that sharing these skills will give people a better chance of a happy and healthy life, empower them to look after their own physical and mental health, and create a more resilient, healthy, happy, population in the future.
