Join a unique company that combines the excitement of working in a high-growth tech startup with the fulfilment of creating life-changing social impact

At Beam, you get to do work that really matters. We’re solving the world’s toughest social problems. And we’re growing fast 🚀

About the Role

We’re looking for a Sales & Partnerships Lead who is determined to shape lives and make a profound social impact. Connecting with senior local government stakeholders, you’ll be stepping into a role where every interaction holds true meaning.

Imagine facilitating thousands of life-changing opportunities, connecting people with the support they need to secure a new rented home, find employment, or embark on a journey to learn English. This is not your usual sales role. This is the chance to transform lives.

What's the role like?

You’ll join a small team of creative, ambitious and values-driven Sales and Partnerships Leads responsible for closing partnerships within Local Government. Day-to-day, you will be collaborating with senior stakeholders and politicians determined to bring innovation and impact to those affected by homelessness, refugees, care leavers and other vulnerable groups.

Whether it’s a first meeting, email or event, you see every interaction as an opportunity to advance and tailor a deal through local research and problem-solving. Your natural ability to prioritise and manage multiple sales activities simultaneously will see you negotiate and overcome hurdles to close contracts, before seamlessly handing over to Beam’s delivery team.

Responsibilities

  • Pipeline generation: Independently generating a robust pipeline to ensure a consistent flow of meetings with qualified opportunities
  • Outreach and engagement: Hustling by using email, phone calls and events to build relationships with key decision makers and secure meetings
  • Qualifying deals: After comprehensive discovery, building tailored proposals aligned with the council’s local needs and goals, ensuring a high conversion rate from initial meetings
  • Negotiation and closing: Expertly navigating negotiations, overcoming objections and driving momentum throughout the closing process
  • Relationship management: Cultivating strong customer relationships and upselling or cross-selling opportunities
  • Reporting: Maintaining records of sales activities and deal progress in our CRM, enabling accurate forecasts and enabling data-driven insights
  • Continuous Development: Supporting the wider team to enhance their sales skills and create impact through deal retros and a culture of open and honest feedback

You'll need

  • Experience in a startup, leading corporate or the public sector in a sales, partnerships or business development role
  • Strategic and systemic approach - a strong understanding of how to build, track and manage an effective sales strategy and pipeline
  • Incredible discovery techniques - exceptional listening and questioning skills to uncover critical information and identifying the decision maker
  • Strong analytical capabilities - making data-driven decisions around your own pipeline and ability to model return on investment for the customer
  • A creative, growth mindset - when there’s a bottleneck, bringing solutions and novel ideas for experimentation that optimises the sales process
  • Confident negotiator - demonstrating persuasive skills to agree terms, pricing and contracts and efficiently and effectively closing deals
  • Adaptive and resilient - you thrive in a dynamic environment and are optimistic about overcoming obstacles while maintaining motivation
  • A strong sense of diplomacy - engaging with a diverse range of customers, that allows you to intuitively identify areas of risk and sensitivity
  • Natural networker - quickly building rapport and establishing trust to develop meaningful relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Results-driven - you thrive working towards ambitious individual KPIs
  • Experience working within the public sector is valued but not essential as an intensive period of shadowing and training is provided.

This is a senior role with significant scope and progression opportunities that could include team management down the line or further growing your impact as an individual contributor. Alongside delivering exceptional growth yourself, in the future, you could play a key role in coaching and supporting colleagues and leading on strategic projects which step change our impact.

This role is based in London and reports to Head of New Council Partnerships, Chloe Moore
