We are searching for someone with a curiosity of taking things apart and putting them back together, naturally adept at building positive and approachable relationships looking to pursue a career in speciality coffee.
The role overview
The trainee technician is an entry level position into our technical team based in Porthleven, Cornwall. You will be responsible for gaining the correct skills and judgement to become a competent field-based technician. After approximately twelve months of training, you will have gained experience of working with La Marzocco machines in our workshop, you will then extend your training with our customers carrying our front-end servicing, on-site triaging of equipment and when necessary, returning to either our London or Cornwall workshop for further maintenance.
Key areas of responsibility
- to learn all aspects of workshop and front-end servicing of La Marzocco, Bunn, Marco and BWT filtration systems and equipment
- to work towards independently servicing, maintaining, installing, and uplifting all espresso and filter equipment on-site
- to regularly audit accounts within a prescribed radius as coordinated by the office technical team
- to follow the standard operating procedures for Origin technicians ensuring all ways of working are carried out safely and as per product guidelines
- to maintain accurate van stock control of parts and tools required for successful call outs
- to ensure the quality and installation of the equipment meets Origin’s and La Marzocco, Bunn, Marco and BWT filtration systems and equipment standards
- to insert accurate data into ServiceM8
- to provide accurate information for effective delivery and collection of equipment
- to implement, adhere to, and promote relevant health and safety procedures and protocols
- to liaise and coordinate with both internal and external parties so lines of communication are clear and understood and actioned when required
- to make sure serviced equipment is cleaned and of good working before signing-off
- to communicate and educate the ‘Origin way’ of standards and expectations with on-site baristas and other relevant team members
- to troubleshoot whilst on-site, including identifying next steps and communicating with the customer time scales and intermediate solutions
- to adhere to the stock system in place to ensure an orderly and well-maintained workshop

Essential behavioural competencies
Skills and experience
- experience of working in the specialty coffee industry
- good practical knowledge or experience of machinery
- evidence of being a self-starter, able to make progress with supported supervision
- a full clean driving licence

£23,210 FTE per annum
Nature of contract
Permanent and full-time. Some weekend cover work will be required
