Job Description

Your role at the TransCap Initiative will focus on accelerating the positive impact of sustainable finance through ambitious systemic investment projects. You will work across a number of diverse projects, undertaking a range of responsibilities, from project management and client relationship management, to research, analysis and the design and delivery of client-facing strategic outputs. You will be key to project delivery and management. 

You will also help build TCI’s methodological foundations by feeding insights and learnings from consulting projects to TCI’s research programme, and you will support our efforts in building a community of practice, by sharing insights from our consulting work through writing blogs, speaking at events, and so on. Over time, there will be an opportunity to expand this role in scope, depth, and responsibility as our initiative grows and matures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and conducting research and analysis phases of projects, ensuring that compelling and actionable insights for clients are generated.
  • Designing and delivering strategic outputs, from Theories of Change and strategic plans, to investment theses and portfolio design.  
  • Producing polished, comprehensive written outputs, distilling insights from data to inform investment decisions
  • On investment advisory projects, supporting pipeline building, due diligence on investments, and the development of investment memos
  • Performing essential project management tasks - e.g. designing and implementing project roadmaps, ensure projects are running on time and to budget, managing stakeholder relationships, establishing and tracking impact metrics for projects, etc.

Key skills and qualities

  • An excellent strategist, someone who:
  • knows how to design and run an effective strategy process
  • has expertise in all key components of strategy building (e.g. research and analysis, stakeholder engagement, ToC development, etc.)
  • knows the key tools and frameworks and how to apply them
  • can deliver polished, well-articulated outputs
  • Strong facilitation skills (workshops, meetings, etc.), and an ability to keep people onsite through sometimes challenging processes and conversation
  • Able to build strong relationships with key project stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of finance, and preferably experience working in investment services or investment consulting
  • Familiar with processes and methodologies commonly used in applied systems change, such as system mapping, design thinking, strategic futures, transition theory, etc.
  • A curious and critical mind, naturally making connections and understanding how things fit into the bigger picture
  • Excellent project management skills and an ability to progress initiatives at pace
  • Adaptive and able to pivot quickly in response to change, able to hold dynamic tensions within a group, and work constructively with those 
  • Passionate about sustainability and preferably knowledgeable about some of the key challenges within that space, such as climate change, food sustainability, social justice, etc.
