  • Upper Norton Farm is a beautiful place to work, with lots of great people – and other perks too. Some of our benefits include: 33 days holiday pro rata (including bank holidays), free organic fruit and veg, time and half on bank holidays, and free parking

This is a Fixed Term Contract from April to October 2024, working 28 hours a week, Monday to Thursday with opportunities to pick up overtime. 7.30am -3.00pm is a typical day, however an earlier start time of 6am may be required to avoid the heat in the summer months.

Salary: £12.11 per hour as of April 2024 , paid weekly

Please note we are based in a rural location with no immediate access to public transport and we are not able to offer accommodation, so you must have your own means of transportation to reach the farm. This role is based at Upper Norton Farm, Sutton Scotney, Hampshire SO21 3QF.

What you’ll be doing…

It's a busy time for Riverford over the Spring & Summer, so if you love working in the great outdoors (come rain or shine), in polytunnels, cultivating plants or and enjoy working as part of a team then you could join us for the summer harvesting our organic veg.

Working either independently or sometimes with the help of a seasonal farm team your main responsibility will be to manually harvest and weed herb and salad crops. Most of the work you will do will be outdoors or in polytunnels; whether it’s hot or cold, sunshine or rain, you will either be really keen to get on your wellies and get out in the fields or ideally have some experience of working in an agricultural role previously.

You’ll get the opportunity to harvest and cultivate different crops, as well as getting involved with moving crop covers, planting, weeding, and hoeing. Previous experience of farm work would be great, but otherwise we are looking for a can-do, positive attitude and a resilience for doing manual work outdoors or in the tunnels.

What we're looking for…

  • Previous experience of working on a farm would be beneficial but, not essential
  • Enjoy outdoor or polytunnel work (come rain or shine), this is a physically challenging role so you must be able to cope with the demands of the seasons
  • Team player; enthusiastic, reliable, flexible, and adaptable demonstrating a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • This is a manual role which requires lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling and as part of this role you  would be required to lift and manoeuvre crates of produce up to 10kg for this role
  • You should have good communication skills and be able to speak and understand English to a level that enables you to comprehend instructions and the daily requirements of the role
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Be passionate about what we do at Riverford

Application Process - We’ll be reviewing the applications throughout the duration of the advert and may chose to bring the closing date forwards, so we'd encourage you to apply at your earliest opportunity.
