Volunteer Healthcare charity seeks trustees with marketing, administrative and communications skills.

What will you be doing?

The charity has navigated through many changes since 1953 and in particular, the trials of the last few years. We have achieved this by being nimble and proactive; adapting to the new challenges for the NHS. The existing board has a broad range of skills, knowledge and experience shared among its current members. We now wish to secure our future for our membership and volunteer team who work with York Hospitals charity and the hospital's Volunteer Hub on a day to day level. As we widen the promotion of our small, yet influential charity within the local community; we need good communicators who are enthusiastic and agile; who can work well within our small, friendly and proactive board of trustees.  The role will offer you the opportunity to work with the board; helping to develop a new marketing strategy which will form a key component of our plans for the future. Your expertise will be key in raising awareness of the charity by engaging with patients, management and staff, members, volunteers and the local community. Much of our work involves the consideraton and approval of applications for charitable funds which will enable many interesting and vital projects from a variety of hospital departments and disciplines. You will need to be sensitive, thoughtful and pragmatic as we often communicate with patients and their relatives, when dealing with donations and legacies left to the The Friends of York Hospital.

As a trustee your decisions can have a direct influence on hospital services and patient experience. Also, the effectiveness of a marketing strategy can significantly impact the charity's ability to achieve its aims and public image.
