The organisation - The British Museum: Founded in 1753, the British Museum’s remarkable collection spans over two million years of human history and culture. The Museum is a leading visitor attraction, and its world-famous collection includes the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, the Sutton-Hoo finds, and the Lewis Chessmen. The Museum also holds an extensive collection of prints and drawings spanning 600 years, including works by the greatest graphic artists Dürer, Michelangelo and Rembrandt.

The role - Senior Administrator Collection Projects and Resources: The postholder will work as part of a central administrative team to provide excellent office management and administrative support to staff and departments within the collection directorate. Key areas of responsibility include managing and delivering administrative support for designated departments and teams, managing and monitoring budgets, travel approval insurance, risk assessments and visas, scheduling, department meetings, internal communications, and events. The role also involves line managing a team of Administrators and assisting the Administration Manager(s) in acting as a liaison point for capital and maintenance projects.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate should have the ability to draft documents and take minutes, synthesise and report on information orally and in writing, maintain effective administrative procedures, and have experience of financial administration. They should be a confident user of ICT, have excellent co-ordination and time management skills, and the ability to manage competing demands changing priorities and requirements. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and effective interpersonal skills are also required.
