What will you be doing?

At Behind the Sm;le we provide peer support and one to one's for those with poor mental health and those bereaved by suicide. We need someone to research all events in the county of Worcestershire, and attend as many as possible, independantly, with trustees or other volunteers. These events will be split into fundraising whereby you would be collecting donations on behalf of the charity, or awareness, sometimes both depending on the location. Therefore there will be a need to set up and manning a fundraising/awareness stall at an event. Comply with Fundraiser Regulator Code of Practice. We would require you to be pro-active in seeking new opportunities to raise awareness and funds for Behind the Sm;le, as an example putting up posters or handling out flyers, keep communication with the chair of trustees or other trustees. In raising awareness we would require you to give talks/presentations to local community groups and schools.  There will be various admin associated with this role such as writing to all donors /supporters to thank them,  engage with all social media, and the charity’s WhatsApp group to advertise events/fundraising activities. Along with the above in would be advantagous if you ability to apply for grants or willing to train. This role can be for more than one person, it could be approx 2 to 3 hours a week plus attendance at events, volunteer meetings and training. 

What are we looking for?

Dependable, enthusiastic about helping a local charity. Previous experience of community fundraising. It is desirable to have personal experience of living with a mental health condition or a carer of someone. Basic knowledge of computer use; Office365 applications (Word, Excel) Working knowledge of using social media; Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram Organised working manner. Able to work with independently with minimum supervision. Pleasant manner, especially when talking to people on the telephone.

It would be good if you are able to think outside the box when selecting an event or campaign, . and to engage donors to create lasting memories. We could work together to share real-life stories that demonstrate the positive change and impact Behind the Sm;le brings to the community.  Your input will shape how we present ourselves to our service users, stakeholders, funders and general public. With your help we will be able to continue to progress our services further such as our; peer support, one to one support, along with more counselling for our group members, develop more groups and a training program. We hope to start paying salaries soon, at the moment we are all volunteering. We expect you to be dependable, enthusiastic about helping a local charity, previous experience of community fundraising would be benificial.
