The British Museum, a guardian of human history and culture, is seeking a diligent and skilled individual to enhance their Advancement Team.   • Conducting thorough due diligence reports for fundraising activities
  • Creating briefing notes for key events
  • Championing the use of the CRM database and ensuring supporter data compliance
  • Training and supervising new staff and volunteers within Advancement
  • Deputising for the Research and Fundraising Priorities Manager when required
  • A-Level education or equivalent is required
  • Experience in a similar Due Diligence Research Assistant/Data Assistant role is necessary
  • Full IT literacy and a strong understanding of CRM databases
  • Familiar with General Data Protection Regulation and Fundraising Code of Practice
  • Proven track record in conducting Prospect Research and Due Diligence screening
  • Previous experience working in a charity or not-for-profit organization is preferred

The British Museum has built a reputable prospect research function which supports both Advancement and the Museum’s wider management. Our research strategically harnesses information and data to drive fundraising decisions. We ensure we have the right tools, skills and networking that supports the Museum with its mission. Our internal service also includes the provision of non-philanthropic research for Trustee Business and other Museum departments.

This post will focus on providing the Museum with exceptional due diligence reports. It will play a key role in supporting the work of the Advancement Operations Team. The successful candidate will combine excellent interpersonal skills, exceptional research and prospecting skills, with a high level of accuracy and detail.

Key areas of responsibility include primary responsibility for Due Diligence for the department, providing briefing notes for key events, championing use of the CRM database, ensuring supporter data compliance, assisting in the training and supervision of new staff and volunteers within Advancement, and deputising for the Research and Fundraising Priorities Manager.

The ideal candidate will be educated to A-level or equivalent, have experience as a Due Diligence Research Assistant/ Data Assistant, full IT literacy, understanding of CRM databases and of the General Data Protection Regulation and Fundraising Code of Practice, and experience in conducting Prospect Research and Due Diligence screening and working at a charity or not for profit organisation.
