The role
Our ESG Manager will be responsible for developing and driving an ambitious and coordinated strategy to guide Beryl to Net Zero in line with our planned timelines and follow through the setting of Science Based Targets and data analysis.
You will formalise our sustainability strategy and work across the business to embed this into everything that we do. We are starting from a great position with support across the business and many examples of best practice, but we know we can do so much more. The role will own the creation, set up and maintenance of various environmental policies to support the entirety of Beryl’s operations. The role will be reporting into our CFO, you will be the main point of contact in relation to all queries regarding environmental and sustainability projects.
The ESG Manager will help to ensure Beryl is taking all reasonable steps to reduce its carbon footprint and minimise its environmental impact.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;
- Work with senior stakeholders and adapt good practice from across the industry to develop and propose a sustainability strategy through assessments, research and prioritisation of initiatives.
- Monitor and align to emerging business accreditations for sustainability and implement monitoring platforms when appropriate.
- Work closely with our Operations Department to complete life cycle assessments of both our products and vehicles, implementing reasonable changes to support C2C design.
- Support and maintain Beryl B-Corp and ISO 14001 projects.
- Introduce a KPI tracking system based around energy and carbon tracking to ensure Science Based Targets are being met.
- Assess and propose sustainability initiatives, whilst considering factors such as cost, effectiveness and feasibility across all Beryl projects.
- Act as a champion by engaging with the wider business and customer base to consider and promote sustainability with the help of our Marketing team.
- Responsible for periodic review of sustainability strategy and maturity framework.
- Tracking and communicating key milestones to the wider team.
- Set achievable goals to align with relevant benchmarks, with the aim to achieve a clear pathway to reach Net Zero.
Requirements
We are in need of someone who is highly engaged within the world of sustainability and who really is passionate about changing the world for the better. Ideally someone who can comprehend complex environmental science and data, with the aim to convert it into achievable and considered objectives and milestones.
- At least 2 years experience in a similar role
- Undergrad in a relevant subject or demonstrate technical understanding through recent professional experience
- Membership of IEMA at Associate level or above (or other recognised professional body)
- Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 14001
- A good understanding of social governance and sustainability issues
- Passionate about minimising environmental impact, promoting sustainability with a balanced approach to assessing issues and devising action plans
- Experience driving sustainability, ESG, Net Zero and/or carbon-neutral programmes in businesses.
- Familiarity and experience working with carbon life cycle assessments.
- Background working for a B Corp or knowledge of B Corp Certification.
- Experience in fast growing scale-ups.
- An authentic passion for sustainability and enacting meaningful change.
- Some experience in the mobility sector is desirable but not essential.
