About the team

Our Food Database team is currently a small team that works both collaboratively and independently. Our work is very detail-oriented and has a considerable impact on our user experience within our app for our users who use our database to log food. We frequently work internally with the Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to ensure we provide the best user experience with a comprehensive and accurate database.

What to expect

Our team manages very large datasets of food items so a background in nutrition or food is required. You will be working directly with the data to categorize and validate accuracy. This work contributes directly to one of the biggest drivers of our customer experience. The food database is used daily by our users and accurate data means our users will be able to make the right food choices to support their best self and feel great. 

Your day to to day will primarily focus on the data work which is done independently and alongside team-identified goals. Our team meets regularly to ensure alignment and troubleshoot any issues together. 

Responsibilities include:

- Ensure our food database is properly categorized and up-to-date 

- Manage food database updates in a timely and efficient manner

- Collaborate with various teams to ensure data quality and accuracy

- Innovate new ways to improve efficiency, relevance and coverage of the food database as well as possible improvements for user experience

- Maintain organization of large datasets

- Requires general knowledge and interest in multicultural food products and an interest in food trends and changes to industry standards

- Should also have general computer knowledge and skills, particularly in Google-based applications and Excel

Expectations for progression within the team require at least 18 months at the Level 1 position.
