We are looking for a game programmer with experience in UI systems to join the team at Supermassive, to work on new, as yet unannounced project.

The position is in-house at Supermassive Games in Guildford and is available as a permanent role.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the design team, UI artists and wider programming team to implement a variety of UI systems across the game using the Unreal engine and its UMG framework/tools
  • Create new framework/tools to accommodate any required bespoke/unique features
  • Prototype and Iterate on UI systems to bring them to quality

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in the games industry
  • Development experience with the Unreal Engine and confident using UMG for the implementation of UI systems
  • Excellent C++ skills, used in a game-development environment
  • In-depth knowledge of several game systems
  • Able to understand and use various SDKs and interfaces effectively
  • Happy to work closely with others in a cross-discipline team
  • Ability to iterate rapidly from low-fidelity prototypes to finished code
  • An understanding of what it takes to craft a compelling and fun player experience
  • Able to design and plan own work
  • Good 3D maths knowledge
  • Passion for video games

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in debugging and profiling in all code areas
  • An understanding and appreciation of UX flows and techniques
  • Exposure to an Agile (e.g. Scrum) development environment
  • Enjoys meeting the quality standards of high-pressure AAA projects
