Role Summary
- Manage the editorial process for full-colour books from manuscript to publication.
- Coordinate with authors, freelancers, and in-house teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Role Requirements
- Prior editorial experience in illustrated book publishing.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in proofreading and copy-editing.
- Skilled in writing compelling sales copy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator is a plus.
- Passion for wildlife and natural history.

The organisation - Bloomsbury Wildlife is the world’s leading publisher of natural history books. Its list includes general trade titles featuring authors such as Chris Packham, Amy-Jane Beer, Ben Goldsmith and Sophie Pavelle, as well as specialist natural history works in the Helm, Bloomsbury Naturalist, British Wildlife Collections and Poyser imprints, and much else besides.
The role - We’re looking for a creative and highly organised individual to join the editorial team for a year at Editor level. The role will see them utilise editorial and project-management skills in an exciting role, which will involve managing a number of full-colour books through the editorial process, from manuscript delivery through to publication. It requires liaison with authors, freelance editors, photographers, illustrators, designers and in-house colleagues. Working closely with the commissioning team, this is a great opportunity for a talented editor keen to make their mark in an exciting and challenging branch of non-fiction publishing.
Job requirements - Editorial experience in illustrated book publishing, meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills, excellent proof-reading and copy-editing skills, the ability to write strong sales copy and blurbs, the ability to prioritise and use initiative, juggling several projects at one time, solid time-management skills to cope with competing deadlines, basic knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator helpful but not essential, interest in wildlife and the natural world.
