What will you be doing?

We’ve been helping people in Mole Valley since 1939, when Citizens Advice opened one of its first local offices in Leatherhead. Dorking followed in 1941. Citizens Advice Mole Valley was opened in 2006 when Leatherhead and Dorking merged. In 2024, we are celebrating our 85th anniversary. It’s never been a more important time to join us! What will you do? Prepare, plan and chair board meetings, working alongside our CEO Ensure decisions/actions are carried out, within the remit of our membership agreement with Citizens Advice, as well as our governing documents and policies Maintain a diverse and active trustee board  Provide support and supervision for the CEO Ensure proper management and control of our finances, working with our Treasurer Work to identify fundraising opportunities and build relationships with funders and partners, representing Citizens Advice Mole Valley in the community.   What's in it for you? What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who Understands, via their own experience, the responsibilities and liabilities of being a charity trustee, as well as having a broad overview of what we do as a local Citizens Advice. We would expect you to have at least 3 years' experience in a similar trustee role and understand the basic principles of charity governance. Is willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection Can demonstrate sound strategic leadership and judgement. You will lead and manage the trustee board, bringing in new trustees to enrich and provide diversity on the board.  Shows good interpersonal skills, such as good listening, verbal and written communication, is non-judgemental and respectful, and values cultures that are different to your own Has sound numeracy skills to understand accounts with the support of the treasurer Able to represent our charity in the local community.
