Role Summary:
- Implement the Museum’s Legal Strategy as part of the Legal Services and Information Governance team.

- Manage legal templates, guidance documents, and business processes.
- Offer guidance on copyright, IP, and rights clearances.
Role Requirements:
- Experience in text and/or imaging licensing or permissions.
- Knowledge of UK and/or international copyright law.
- Degree-level education, with a preference for formal copyright law training.
- Ability to handle varied workloads and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong communication abilities.

The British Museum is seeking a Rights Manager to join the Legal Services and Information Governance team. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months, offering a salary of £40,312 per annum.
The role: As a Rights Manager, you will contribute to implementing the Museum’s Legal Strategy and delivering a sector-leading advisory function. You will provide colleagues around the Museum with accurate, timely and effective advice. You will work closely with the rest of the Legal Services team and Governance Department to deliver high-quality and strategic legal support to colleagues around the institution. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the development and implementation of IP and rights strategy, maintaining and implementing templates, guidance documents, and business processes, and providing advice and assistance on copyright, IP and rights clearances.
Job requirements: Applicants should have relevant experience in text and/or imaging licensing or permissions, ideally in the heritage, charities and/or public sectors. You should have demonstrable knowledge of UK and/or international copyright law and be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably with formal copyright law training. You should be able to carry a varied and unpredictable workload and work to tight deadlines, keep organised records and manage complex projects, and communicate clearly and succinctly.
